Okay...so over the last few days I've completely changed the look of this blog at least 4 times! I've been trying to find a look that is "me" and feels like home. I have spent a lot of time recently looking at the blogs of my fellow Etsians and they all seem so personal and styled that upon returning to my own blog, it began to feel more and more like a bit of a facade. I know that sounds a little dramatic - it is only a blog after all, but I feel like the way my blog looks gives an impression of my personality, and I wanted that impression to be at least a lttle accurate!
I then realized that I don't know exactly what my "style" is! The harder I tried to find a look that fit me, the more apparent my lack of style became! I'm not really the vintage type, the modern doesn't fit me, and shabby chic is beautiful, but not my schtick either... There are literally thousands, if not millions, of free backgrounds and headers to be found all over the internet and I probably waded through at least 800 of them in my search! Hours later I had finally given up and decided to just keep it simple (as my mother says, "just K.I.S.S!" which stands for Keep It Simple, Stupid!) So I chose a header that jumped out at me and then just went with a simple background that matched it somewhat and, voila!
As I looked at my finished product, I realized how much I really did like it! In the world of the arts and crafting, there are so many styles and I was always trying to figure out which one I fit into when I didn't really fit them at all! I am just me and I don't fit any mold - and the less I try to find a place to "fit in" and just enjoy where I'm at, the happier and more peaceful I am! So I guess this story has a moral to it - enjoy who you are, no matter what that is and accept it with grace - you will be much happier and have a lot more peace in your life!
